I have to admit, rather sheepishly, that I got on to the Simpsorama band wagon only in recent years. I don't think I caught the 1989 start of the show because I was working nearly 80 hours a week as a security guard. This being said, I actually did see them on the Tracy Ullman show in the 1980's, and I did catch the 1999 premiere of Futurama. We must be from different age groups...when I was four years old, I was watching Bozo the Clown in black and white tv. Rocket Robin Hood http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs723_Kq ... re=related was one of the first cartoons that caught my eye . I cringe when I see it nowadays. Thanks for the comment...maybe we can see some art from you sometime... :bart:

BTW, If you watch this video, tell me that this bad guy doesn't look and sound like the Monarch...

I was looking over an old dA project today, and really loved what I did with Amy in the piece...I decided to do a head-to-toe fashion picture with her in that outfit. Here is the piece http://gulliver63.deviantart.com/galler ... 0#/d3doy0f Let me know what you think...

I'm releasing this over at dA tonight...you guys get to see the nice color vision. The main version is in black and white, as the 1957 movie was. I took this color version and converted to black and white, and then threw some "noise" on it to imitate an old tv grab. The scene is from "The Amazing Colossal Man," one of those great B-grade movies I grew up with. One fact about the movie that still blows my mind is that it was finished in just 9 days...I think it deserves an award for that, if nothing else. Here is the black and white dA version of my piece. http://gulliver63.deviantart.com/art/Am ... -293191366

BTW, I had such fun watching Twilight Zone's "The After Hours" on the computer today...my buddy at work had never seen it, and didn't know who Anne Francis was.

I was so pleased with my two black and white projects I did over the weekend that I thought of doing another. These are two sketches that I sent Kaspired this morning...and Amy got an Edsel for her birthday! The Leela was based largely on actress Anne Francis in the Twilight Zone episode "The After Hours."

Thanks to a friend on dA, I'm rediscovering that wonderful show Farscape - the DVD's have been on the shelf too long. While watching a season four episode, I spotted a wonderful outfit on Jool, and wanted to know what Amy would look like in that get-up...I think pretty darn cool.

That looks very good! The outfit is nice (I especially like the boots), and her face is on-model. Cute pose. The hair is the best part of the picture, though. It looks very 3D.

Excellent job.

Thanks! The episode was "I Shrink Therefore I Am," and I don't think she usually dresses like that. I love the boots she wore, with one solid heel and sole. I think the cylinder shaped hair plugs are epic on her. Here's my final Farscape project...I really like Amy as Chiana.

I didn't capture it here, but Chiana typically has this thing she does with her head...she sort of cocks her head over to one side, like a predatory animal. The make-up is just really cool on that show.

I watched several others draw up Leela in Soviet army garb, and doodled this for fun.

Very nice! I think her face looks a bit better on the right-hand doodle (on the left one it's a bit too straight), but both are really good. The uniforms and caps are excellent, and you're as good at drawing Leela as ever.

Thanks! I got good at drawing her because I really studied the canon Leela. On one of the DVD's (I think it was Bender's Game) they have a tutorial - I freeze framed it and studied how the artist built up her head with that oh-so familiar rugby ball I talk about. If you build up that rugby ball right, you also get a perfect sized eye and proper ear placement. I'm either a great artist, or a well-trained monkey that copies very well! ::chuckles:: I am thinking of doing the finished project with a UAZ 452 van in the backround. I have no idea why, except that the project interests me.

I wanted to share this...this was actually my first sketch for the Simpsorama/clown picture. I liked it, but felt it was just too ordinary and plain-Jane. Still cute, though. It was part of a concept for a picture I never developed where the PE gang ended up as toys for a giant alien child...Amy was the clown, Leela was dressed as a ballerina, and Fry was dressed as an old-fashioned toy soldier.

It's fun just to do a little thing for a laugh...I did another Matrix piece for dA, and this little idea kept biting me in the brain - such a little scene in the Matrix where Keanu Reaves notices a restaurant that he used to eat at. And to think that poor Seymour is just a computer simulation...
