Re: REVIEW: [VABF02] Barthood

Man, I liked a great deal of this; the way they set up Bart and Lisa's conflict, the way they FIXED so much of the really terrible stuff in some of the previous future episodes (Look, no freaking underwater divorce for Homer and Marge!), the way they let Bart use his passion for BMX ext...

Re: REVIEW: [VABF01] 'Paths of Glory

I agree that the writing is finally starting to shape up again. I actually really liked Lisa's part, and the thing is that what she hit on is true IRL - women back in Ye Olden Days were sent to asylums for being non-compliant. Just in this case it turned out the person she admired was less than...

Re: REVIEW: [TABF20] Lisa With An 'S'

This one really worked for me! Lainey popped out as an original, interesting character, and definitely felt like someone Moe would have known during his Hollywood days and who he would loosely date. She was surprisingly sympathetic too. It was lovely to see Marge concerned with Lisa's well-being...

Let's knock wood because wow, fantastic work, everything else she's done doesn't come close.

Re: REVIEW: [TABF18] Treehouse of Horror XXVI

This wasn't too bad; it's sort of a middle-of-the-pile TOH for me: Wanted: Dead, Then Alive: Surprised be by being as uberviolent as it was - I shouldn't have been, as it's a Bob seg, and at that Bob getting his ultimate revenge on Bart. This one felt pretty good to me; played well ...

Re: REVIEW [TABF22]: Halloween of Horror

@May - according to production codes this is from season 26 - ironically produced just after Every Man's Dream. What is it with this show that it can somehow spit out the very best and the very worst in the same season. There's three more episodes with that production code left to air. Also I meant ...

REVIEW [TABF22]: Halloween of Horror

Wow, it's been a long time since I've been this impressed with the show! I felt super, super bad for Lisa and for once the show handled it realistically; she felt like a real eight-year old who'd been traumatized. Homer's coddling of her was super sweet, and then their eventual team...

Re: REVIEW: [TABF17] Cue Detective

The Doctor Doolittle part edged dangerously close to feeling Family Guy-ish and lasted too long, but it felt like it's always great to see Bart and Lisa Do Stuff together, Homer's BBQ fascination felt like something he'd be into, and the show's never done competitive grilling as a s...

Re: REVIEW: [TABF19] Puffless

I kinda wish they hadn't got back to status quo, TBH. The conflict between Patty and Selma was at least unique, and felt pretty old-school in general. Them just disregarding Patty's health because they can neither live without one another or cigarettes is pretty bad. ...I still kind of enjo...

IMOHO, he should've come out when it would've been impactful. They could've explored a decades worth of queer living through him and instead they chose to keep making closet-related jokes.

I'll be coming back to rant sometime over the next week because I can't bring myself to rewatch it this week.
