My Purdy Pics

Post by JoeyGus » Fri Jan 07, 2005 2:53 am

I'm not totally done with this picture yet, but I was wondering what everyone else thinks of it. I think her head is extremely small, her breasts are too down low, and her eyes are messed up...but I'll have to fix that later some how :-X. So...any comments?

My uneducated opinion is, apart from the problems you picked out, it's good. I like the "drape" effects, though perhaps they should be a little, well, softer. Also, I think the sleeve on her right arm isn't differentiated enough from the arm itself.

Still, good work!

I'd suggest spending a little time studying how a hand works. :)

Also, before you start using blending in order to shade, I'd recommend learning how to crosshatch.

I don't see much wrong with the eye, the only 'strange' bit I see is the angle of his left shoulder. Other than that, not many problems that I can see.Goodie! :)

Looks really good, Joey. Stop faulting yourself too! The right eye is okay. ;)
Again, good pic.

No, never stop faulting yourself.

Just make sure you know of the things you DON'T have to work on. Fault yourself, but do it efficiently. ;)

Edit: Figure I should comment on the drawing...It's looking good, but like you mentioned, the eyes aren't exactly symmetrical. Also, his nose has no real nostril, except the little dot you put on there. The exterior of nostrils usually curve outwards, and his nose has none of that on either side. I would also try looking at a few pictures of ears for reference.
And, again, I really wouldn't shade by any blending techniques. Learn how to crosshatch, then once you understand exactly how shading works, it will allow you to blend properly.

thanks for commenting, about that nostril....its wierd but i was trying to make it anime styled but i guess it came out wierd. I wasn't really focusing on shading and I just wanted to get in his skin color by smearing, but im gonna shade in future pics.
