So... I got married the other day.

Post by archonix » Sun Jun 19, 2005 8:22 pm

Ok, there's no simple way to say this. For the last few years I've been engaged, waiting to be married. The relationship has had its ups and downs (and a few complete crashes, truth be told) but we've come through it. You know who I am, or you at least know what I do on the forum because I'm the one making this post. The other half of this iniquitous contract also lurks around these forums, currently under the name of Immaterial, aka Christina.

So, last saturday, we were finally married. 5 years if joy, sorrow, love and heartbreak are finally over and now I've got me a ring, which you might have noticed being briefly celebrated in another thread. I still can't believe it's happened to be honest, after all this time waiting. On the other hand I can... there are some photos floating around somewhere. I'll post a few when I get hold of them and you lot will get to see how different a swedish wedding really is.

JHmm, did I spy a golden ring? *waits to turn invisible* Damn thing isn't working, I want my money back!

Yes, yes, pictures will be along soon. I have a week here where they aren't - the camera went home with the parents and I'm still ijn Sweden with Chris's family. Then I have a week in tenerife, probably without any computer access at all. Although the timeshare we're going to might have wireless... you never know!

That's such nice news, Graham! This event means a lot to the community (well, at least a little bit), and I'm very happy about it. My honest congratulations, both of you!

Looking fowards to the pictures, too. But I can wait! :)

I was wondering when you'd start a thread about this... was hoping I wouldn;t have to do it myself. :-)

My heartiest congratulations to both of you, you deserve a lifetime of bliss.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone’s fault. If it was Us, what did that make Me? After all, I’m one of Us. I must be. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We’re always one of Us. It’s Them that do bad things. - Jingo, Terry Pratchett

Well, Graham said it all. I'm as happy... and shocked... and disbelieving... as you can imagine. I'm a bit lost for words, but the important thing is, I married Graham. Everyone already knows how much I adore him, so I won't go on about it and make him embarrassed. I am the luckiest girl alive. And wife, now.

Best thing ever to happen to me.

Thank you so much, all who have wished us luck. I'll do my best to deserve such friends... and such a husband...

Congratulations!  All the best for the future.
There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning....
And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting - on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave....
So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark - that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.
