Your Pointless Link for Today

Yes, folks. It's the "Geek Quiz." Apparently, it measures how much of a geek you are by how much expensive electronic gadgets you own. Also, by what you would take with you to a desert island, which is the standard Geek Quiz question.
Personally, I disagree with it. Any real Geek worth his salt likes what he likes and doesn't give a crap what anyone else thinks. I'm ten times the Geek than whoever wrote this cockamamie thing!

Real geeks do it in their pyjamas. *snicker*
Hm, the first question fails to take account of me, for I currently have... *counts* nine. Bloody hell.

I got 44 (Heading to Geekdom), which is pretty good going for me. But I agree with Terry; it's too gadget-obsessed (I guess a real geek wouldn't think so, though).

I think I answered one of the questions wrong because I had no idea what they were talking about. Something about a VoIP service?

"Stuck in the last century"... For some reason, I feel somewhat comforted by that.

Ditto. I assume the cellphone questions saved me (I still use a five-years old refrigerator-size model, and usually it takes me five minutes to fire it up, 'cause I always press the wrong buttons).

Well, what did you know, even after owning a ciber-cafe and living on computers mine is not that high. Anyway, I kind of understand. I'm not really into video games, so I guess thats why.Your score is 48

I wouldn't have said that being in to videogames is really a sign of nerdish leanings, though. now programming video games, that's another matter entirely...

Re: Your Pointless Link for Today
I was talking about video game designing. Anyway, you know the inaccuracy those online test have, and this being a "joke-test", even more. Just look at all of those IQ and EQ tests they offer on the internet, they even expect you to pay for those.
How nerdish you have to be to believe that, not at all. You may wonder if I have taken those test? Yes I have (I've never paid for that diploma they offer) , but just for fun, and to see what they're coming with. Well, I guess I'm digressing from the subject.
There is a big difference in being a nerd and depending on technology for your everyday life. Gadgets are good, but dependency, whew, just to know that somepeople can't even add with their own minds or even remember a cell phone, because they just need to press a button to dial it, makes me sick.
Where are we heading to? We do need technology to make things easier, not to stop doing things entirely, even thinking.

That's some pretty serious stuff there. It does make you wonder where we're heading... *briefly imagines Borg!Chris and has a heart attack*
On the other hand, life is so much more interesting when you can get in touch with people all over the planet. At the same time, I know just two people on my entire street. My grandparents almost left their home towns, and knew just about everyone on their street. So there are ups and downs no matter where you are, technologically speaking.
