It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone’s fault. If it was Us, what did that make Me? After all, I’m one of Us. I must be. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We’re always one of Us. Same here. They say it's pronounced the same as 'we', and the double-i stands for the unique (read bizarre) controller system, and also something about bringing people together and friendship and cookies and rainbows all that. Or some crap like that.
But can you imagine trying to buy one of these things now?
(to store clerk) "Hi, I'd like a Wii."

*LOL* @ Alex.
I couldn't come up with a worse name for a console if I sat down and thought hard about it.

A visual aid.
What the crap is up with that controller? Don't they remember the Atari 5600? Have they learned nothing??
Then again, I thought the DS would tank like the Virtual Boy, and it's doing okay. So, who knows?

I kind of like the controller. It looks simplistic enough for me to actually grasp.
I thought "Wii" was just one of the accessories' names. I didn't know they were completely renaming the Revolution. Yikes.

Those who like the name will probably yell "Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!".
As for the controller, it'll be easy to lose, I guess. If it's hard enough to find the remote conrol, imagine losing a remote controller?
And how will you look like when using both hands to play? Or you play with just one thumb?

Seems like they are trying to get children and people who play the... *sigh*... Wii, to grow up to be couch potatoes.

They've said in the past that they're aiming for a more general, less hardcore-gamer market. Sort of a few steps up from the crap you can play on the Sky digital box or your mobile phone, hence a controller that isn't designed to appeal to hardcore gamers.
The name stinks though. Dare I say they're taking the piss?
Revolution was better.

That's actually good news for me. I'm certainly no hard-core gamer. Hell, I can't even control these games today, with their duel joysticks and one button moving the left pinky and all that. Every game I have *ever* played on XboX is like that. Which is why I'll never buy one. Kudos to Nintendo!Commisar Geranovich wrote: They've said in the past that they're aiming for a more general, less hardcore-gamer market. But seriously. Wii? Come on. You can do better than that.

Amen. that is really great another system to give me Carple tunnel Syndrome. it looks strange and probably is. Is it just me or does it seem like Nintendo is slowly going downhill?Casper wrote: Seems like they are trying to get children and people who play the... *sigh*... Re: Nintendo renames the Revolution to...
Awful name aside, I think worries that Nintendo is going down are premature at best... the remote controller is probably one of the most brilliant game controller designs and something truly original. It'll be very interesting to see what game ideas come out of it's unique capabilities - one example I saw was holding it and miming a throw to throw in Madden, for example.
