Word, word, and WORD.

(Though the guy should really blame Disney for starting the trend.)

Naturally, I agree intensely on the point of celebrity voice actors. (Though I think the worst part is when the animators also make the animated character *look* like the celebrity voice actor. Because, yeah, you really can't have a tall guy voiced by Danny DeVito. That would ruin the whole point of the film, i.e. finding out who's voicing whom.)

EDIT: But I thought the Important Message of "Over the Hedge" was "commercialism is bad!" (That said, buy Pringles! lol)

His mentioning that the classic animated characters being memorable, although their original voice actors are now just obscure footnotes, while the current batch are all "see Bruce Willis as a talking racoon", also made me think of how our "star talent" really doesn't have any talent to speak of.
Hey you, out there in the cold,
Getting lonely, getting old,
Can you hear me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles,
With itching feet and fading smiles,
Can you feel me?
Hey You! Don\'t help them to bury the light.
Don\'t give in without a fight.

WORD x 1000. None of these movies look anything like they're worth seeing.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone’s fault. If it was Us, what did that make Me? After all, I’m one of Us. I must be. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We’re always one of Us. Hmmm...maybe I should wait to pitch that Usagi Yojimbo movie...

Well, I'm sure cute animals mercilessly slaughtering each other in epic battle would be a lot more acceptable than cute animals doing stupid jokes endlessly and learning the same family values over and over again, heh.

Now I want to see Bruce Willis as a racoon in a dirty vest...

Indeed she does.  I shudder to think what Usagi would be like if that were the case...

Here's what we need: an Usagi Yojimbo animated feature film scripted by Terry and animated by Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.

I know it's slightly less probable than flying pigs (who go on adventures and learn family values), but that won't stop me dreaming.

Hey now, Porco Rosso doesn't learn any family values.

3D animated films generally are a blight on society.

"Wow, this new film takes a really irreverent and wacky look at pop culture/fairy tales/inanimate objects!"

FUCKOFFFUCKOFFFUCKOFFFUCKOFF!!

It's not irreverent if EVERY SINGLE FUCKING FILM IN THE SAME FUCKING FORMAT IN FUCKING HISTORY does it!! You witless, clueless BASTARDS. You've never had a unique thought between the lot of you.

"Hey, look! Our film is a traditional fairy tale-type thing... but look! The female lead is doing a hilarious impression of that kung-fu bit in the Matrix! She's a traditional fairy-tale character, but she's acting sassy and outrageous like our marketing department tells us modern women do! And look at our sloppy attempts to shoehorn a weak satire on today's celebrity-driven culture into our film!"

Jesus wept.
