Comics!
Couldn't find a recent thread for this. I'll start with a couple of short stories.
Darkness (Boulet): A few pages down, and you will be yelling, "YES. THAT."
Sarah and the Seed (Ryan A.): Adorable, or creepy? Stay tuned.

Re: Comics!
I really liked this one, did a great job playing with the narration and storytelling. And the final panels were niceBeb wrote:Darkness (Boulet): A few pages down, and you will be yelling, "YES. THAT."
It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone’s fault. If it was Us, what did that make Me? After all, I’m one of Us. I must be. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We’re always one of Us. It’s Them that do bad things. - Jingo, Terry Pratchett

Re: Comics!
That's very insightful, makes me think, especially about my own time away from "home" (and the fact I had to come back...)
I just wish I knew who she was talking about.

Re: Comics!
Very good comic. The artist's dialogue was... a bit close to home. (Though I never tried to get into art.) I'm sure Ms. Beaton exorcised a few demons from the past by drawing that.

Zombie Hunters. Panel two of today's page had me in stitches and it's not even a comedy strip. (slightly NSFW)

Lost faith in any goodness on the internet? Kate Beaton's Twitpic gallery. Family sketch comics I never knew existed. Tears rolling down my face. Occasional ponies.

Ducks; Beaton again. Not-remotely-comedy sketches about the two years she spent working on the oil sands. The most unsettling thing I've read for quite some time.

Re: Comics!
Pfft, first world problems. At least she had a job!
Jokes aside, that was a very good comic. I must admit, I'm happy that it wasn't environmental misery-porn. (Not that I should be expecting that from Beaton, but once it mentioned the ducks, I thought the rest of the story might be nothing but her trying to clean oil off little dying creatures.) Instead, we got something amazing and poignant.
So, is working in petrol production better or worse than working at a nuclear power plant?
