Futurama, A Complete Guide

Post by Kif White » Sat Jan 07, 2006 9:16 pm

For those interested, and who haven't seen these when I posted them in chat, I've been creating some online Futurama guide pages in similar vein to the Simpsons, A Complete Guide to Our Favourite Family series of books. I did all the episodes ages ago, but I'm updating them again with more info and ready to be printed as an actual book. Eventually there'll be title pages, main character bios, Who Does What Voice, Bender's camera moments, amongst other extras... and even an index.

Anyway, here's what's been released so far in the updated guide pages...

Shockwave
This is... a shocking lot of work. You mean, you did all 72 episodes like this? :o Wow.
But how do you plan to print them? For printing, images should be either in vector format (something like Adobe Acrobat), or with much higher quality. I have just printed 1ACV01 on A4 paper, it looks pretty good, but low resolution is still very noticeable.
About the content, not technical stuff: simply great.

They're just simple image files because it keeps the file size down basically. Anything at too high a DPI or in a format such as pdf would bee too large a download (and upload).

Well actually, PDF saves text and shapes as vector/text data, only the images in the document as actual picture data, so the filesize will be much smaller, even if you were to enlarge this to twice its size. :)

Acrobat could embed the screencaps as JPEG, while using PNG for Mr. Panucci's profile pic (or if that's a vectorized image, it can just embed it that way).

If you don't have Adobe Acrobat, email me the source file for one of these (the original Photoshop file or whatever graphics program you used) and I'll be happy to convert it to PDF as a test. :)
