Now that it's been announced, I thought I might as well make an info thread, where upon the info about the movie can be put and updated as it arrives.

* The main plot is that a goof by Homer at the power plant results in the government putting a dome over the city limits of Springfield. (from http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22926)

* "In the movie Homer causes an accident at the nuclear power plant - which causes the town's drinking water to be spoilt. Therefore, Erin Brockovich is guest starring - playing herself. After the incident, Homer gets fired from the plant, and majority of Springfield's citizens move away. There is not going to be a dome built over the town.

But, in one scene, when people are trying to figure out what to do at the city hall meeting - Professor Frink suggests a "giant dome" should be built around the town. The dome rumors could've started from that. * An animatic at ComicCon 2006 showed two scenes from the movie: one of an angry mob storming the Simpsons' house to try and get Homer, and another of Homer on a dog sled by himself in a snowy region.

I highly doubt that any of those plots are real, they said they would release false bits of information over the internet to throw people off. But yeah, I'm very excited about it.

The movie. The actors have apparently all recorded the dialogue for it, though they'll no doubt pop in again several times for changes as things go, just like with the series.

Recording the dialogue is actually a pretty early step in the process, and the movie is coming out next year.

I'm a bit concerned that they're using two different animation studios for the same project (will consistency be an issue?), but I know Rough Draft does excellent work, so I'm not worried about who's doing the movie.
