The sad thing is that it makes it look like it's aping the "South Park" movie - and that's not only years old but also poked perfect fun at the hystrionic tendancies of people protesting the show in the first place.  If they're trying to ape "Family Guy", they're forgetting that that show brings something entirely different to the table...doesn't help that FG is roughly a hundred thousand homes from beating OFF in the ratings.

(reminds me of this old essay I wanted to scribble out; the difference between writing in each of the above fandoms and what sort of emotional attachments each show offers; bleedy blah I go on).

There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning....
And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting - on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave....
So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark - that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.

They aired a new trailer during tonight's episode, and I dare say I liked it.

I don't think a name exists for the level of elation I'm feeling for this movie right now.  I know the other trailers were pretty bad, but... aye carumba.  The animation was flat out gorgeous, I actually laughed at some of the jokes (not all, but most), and there were actually slivers of a plot shining through!

It's up on Apple Trailers if you missed it.

July can't come soon enough.

If you scroll down the third page of this thread, the user jim2386 has put the movie up as an MPG for download.

Finally a proper length trailer!

Well, good and bad feelings about this one. As a trailer, it's funny and well done. The clips *look* good.

The downside: still no semblance of a plot, and none of the clips are outstandingly funny (the Burns scene probably comes closest). Obviously, I appreciate that they're not giving away too much or spoiling good jokes, but... Oh well. I had fun watching this.

Stuff in Aint it Cool should always be taken with a pinch of salt of course, but this is maybe relevant to your interests.

Some spoilers.

There's some things in there that I approve of. A few that sound very, very bad to me.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone’s fault. If it was Us, what did that make Me? After all, I’m one of Us. I must be. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We’re always one of Us. It’s Them that do bad things. - Jingo, Terry Pratchett

Yeah. Apparently it manages to avoid its humor being driven by obscure references. Oh, goody...
I also dislike the way the reviewer states there's some good father / son material involving Bart and Homer (this is fine) but then states that it'll probably go over the head of most fans (this is less fine).

I don't think either of the reviewers were the sharpest tools in the shed and I'm pretty sceptical about some of what they claimed.  Assuming most of it's true, I'm not encouraged at all.  Yes, the Homer and Bart stuff is a nice idea but it's still looking like they're on the same "Homer 'n Bart Show" kick that the show has been mired in for some time.  It sounds like they've made a reasonable attempt to tie the various storylines of the rest of the family together and this could be interesting but it still sounds like they've been sidelined.  How they can introduce this mystery bad guy (I wonder if this is a "star" guest voice?) and cut out Burns beggars belief and wow folks, they've used the freedom of the silver screen to allow Homer to swear at a bunch of people....oooh....how cutting edge.  I don't know, maybe these two just remembered the bits that appealed to their tastes, I hope that's the case...

Fellranger pretty much sums up my opinions. It doesn't sound awful, but some things make me wary, namely: getting rid of those pernicious obscure references (I didn't know they still had them!); new villain that sounds a lot like a guest voice to me; and coarse language WHILE AT THE SAME TIME having unusually lame I&S scenes.

And after the trailer, I was *really* hoping for Burns to be the villain. Dammit, has he been the villain of *any* episode after "Simple Simpson"?

EDIT: By the way, has OFF ever had any *really* obscure references? I don't just mean the occasional scene from a film I've never seen (which would be most of them), I mean ones that made the episode impossible to enjoy due to their reconditeness.

If it hasn't, I don't see how they're such a big problem.
