Happy birthday you lovable idiot.
Yes it is in fact Fry's birthday today. 9th of August 1974 was the date, and that makes him 36. Apparently.

Happy birthday to him, then.

Man, fictional time flies. *plays Walking on Sunshine in honour of Fry and a real tree.*

Technically, he's 1036, but who's counting?
Happy birthday, Fry! Hope Leela brings you some "cake" later.

Yay, Fryday! (Wait, he's the same age as Homer now? At least he's been luckier in the hair department.)
And that picture is a very accurate depiction of mid-life crisis.

Wait, since when has Fry shared a birthday with a third of my family? I thought he was born in mid-July. >_>'

I never envisioned Fry as being older than his mid-twenties; neat!

Yeah, regardless of whether they age in the show, in all my fics I treat Fry and Leela as being in their late twenties and Amy a few years younger. (Bender is of course Bender.)

Re: Happy birthday you lovable idiot.
I don't know if it's just me but it seems heavily implied that Leela is a few years older than Fry. Fry would have been about 26 at the show's start, and I always got the impression that Leela was over 30.

Re: Happy birthday you lovable idiot.
Fry's age was mentioned in My Three Suns (25), and going by Love's Labours Lost in Space (I think) Brannigan, Begin Again*, Leela's... no longer 25. She became a teenager along with Fry and Amy in Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles, so I wouldn't put her in her thirties at the start of the show. I'd say later twenties. I also say I want a detective hat and a pipe to wear and eat when I'm writing posts like this.

Awesome detective skills!
A correction, though: the episode where Leela lied about being able to die before age 25 was Brannigan Begin Again.

Great detective work, guys I always assumed Leela's supposed to be in her early 30's, too.

I think its because she's the responsible one, that and her maturity make her seem older.Archonix wrote:I always got the impression that Leela was over 30.
It also states in a caption in Leela's Homeworld that the scenes immediately following showing her birth are taking place "20-something years ago". Which if you assume the chronology of the show follows the real world - which it seems too (Lars' and Leela's wedding invitation is dated 3007 for example, and Bender's Big Score was released in 2007. TLPJF also states the "current" year as 3010 more than once) then if she was 29 in 3002 (Leela's Homeworld aired in 2002) then that would make her 26 in 2999 (when the series is assumed to start)Beb wrote:Fry's age was mentioned in My Three Suns (25), and going by Love's Labours Lost in Space (I think) Brannigan, Begin Again*, Leela's... no longer 25. Which would make her about one year older than Fry at best.
