Can I suggest something?

I have been trying to practice my writing on the quiet ends of my work shift, and I thought of a cute idea. I, like most of the human race, find forced writing difficult. If I have some sort of beginning sentence or theme, however, it becomes easier to write something. Keep in mind that this is just practice drivel, sort of like keeping loose with doodle sketches. Today I started with this sentence: "Zorg walked in and found the captain and the alien woman in liplock." Dorky, but I soon found myself writing. Crap? Yes...but a good excuse to practice grammar and mechanics. I thought I'd share this with all of you because I thought it'd be fun to throw one of these sentences out and see what several of us would come up with. No rules. Anything goes. Just a thought.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions or things that they do to practice, I'd love to hear them.

This thread should probably be in The Creative Pen. But it's a really interesting idea! Quite a few other people have been talking about arranging short-notice challenges for art and short stories. If we can decide on some sort of system, I think it could be very entertaining.
