Re: "Wings" discussion thread
Introducing the reporter was an attempt to break Burns' coverup of the Trojan situation. (the coverup is pretty ridiculous after all)
Basically an outsider who can break the news to the rest of the world and get the ball rolling for Burns' punishment.
Do with him what you will.
(and who says Lisa can never fly?)
BTW Rich, go ahead and post what you feel like. The queue hardly matters at the moment unless we get some real interest in continuing this thing.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone’s fault. If it was Us, what did that make Me? After all, I’m one of Us. I must be. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We’re always one of Us. It’s Them that do bad things. - Jingo, Terry Pratchett
Re: "Wings" discussion thread
As some of you may have noticed, I have just finished deleting most of my messages from the site. For the most part, I don't want my works on this site anymore, but it would be unfair to everyone else for me to remove my contributions to the Wings story. After all, it was Scotty's story and the subsequent contributions that truly launched the winged-Lisa craze, and it would be a shame to tarnish the tradition.
Even though I won't be checking back, I hope that the story is eventually picked up and concluded.

Damn it...
I hate when people do irreversible actions before thinking just a bit.
This applies both to you and Graham.
Graham, to delete that post, even it was really rude and offensive to Chris, was a severe admin power abuse.
Rich, to delete ALL your posts from the forum was just wrong. If you really feel so bad, you could just remove your account and spare your posts to keep some sanity on the board.

I know you mean well, Serge, but it was a matter of honour. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.
Our choicest plans have fallen through, our airiest castles tumbled over, because of lines we neatly drew and later neatly stumbled over.

Re: "Wings" discussion thread
My apologies for bringing back an old post, but if you guys ever start this story up again, I'd like to sign up to write and try my hand at sci-fi writing.
Thanks
Thanks
Homer: Marge? Since I'm not talking to Lisa, would you please ask her to pass me the syrup?
Marge: Dear, please pass your father the syrup, Lisa.
Lisa: Bart, tell Dad I will only pass the syrup if it won't be used on any meat product.
Bart: You dunkin' your sausages in that syrup homeboy?
Homer: Marge, tell Bart I just want to drink a nice glass of syrup like I do every morning.
Marge: Tell him yourself, you're ignoring Lisa, not Bart.
Homer: Bart, thank your mother for pointing that out.
Marge: Homer, you're not not-talking to me and secondly I heard what you said.
Homer: Lisa, tell your mother to get off my case.
Bart: Uhhh, dad, Lisa's the one you're not talking to.
Homer: Bart, go to your room.

Re: "Wings" discussion thread
For somebody of Lisa's weight to fly, she would have to have a wingspan of 1.34 meters less than a California Condor, and be able to beat them once per second. Judging by my own estimates in the fanfic, the wingspan itself was sufficent, but her inability to flap them was the only thing holding her back from flying.(and who says Lisa can never fly?)
Find Me, A poem by Chris Dominowski.
If I am lost, and you do not care, will the search ever be fair?
Why am I here? What should I do?
The answer to this, I once knew.
Why should I be found if I always must hide?
I have tried so hard, my soul has died.
Over the years, In fear I have drowned. It is finally clear; I cannot be found.
Human, a poem by Chris dominowski
I wear sunglasses at night, but I carry a flashlight.
I turn from the flame, but stare at the ashes.
I walk into the woods, and never touch the trail.
I always look at my calander, but do not care what day it is.
I am the mixture of light and darkness; I am human.

Re: "Wings" discussion thread
Well, my complaints about Lisa's inability to fly were concerning Sweeper's conclusion, not any physical stuff. It's a fanfiction, and characters' statements mean more here than gravity laws. Remember your IFF and Lisa's quite successful attempts to hide her fly-capable wings under her dress.

Oh dear God, don't remind me of that horrid fanscript that I made. That litterary disgrace will haunt me for years!

Oh, well, weather people like it or not, I already submitted it to NHC, so it's too late!

Ah, but the real question is, could she carry a coconut from the tropics all the way to England?ametur_poet wrote:For somebody of Lisa's weight to fly, she would have to have a wingspan of 1.34 meters less than a California Condor, and be able to beat them once per second. Depends on whether it's an African Lisa or a European Lisa.jenny wrote:Ah, but the real question is, could she carry a coconut from the tropics all the way to England?ametur_poet wrote:For somebody of Lisa's weight to fly, she would have to have a wingspan of 1.34 meters less than a California Condor, and be able to beat them once per second. Ah, but African Lisas are non-migratory, see. It's all very confusing.

Yes, but what if the coconut was tied to a string? [/MPHG parody]
Now, I have a serious question. I just read the fic "Wings", and I really don't understand what's going on in the last 2 or 3 pages. Could someone please explain? Thanks.
