As a wise man once said, there are but two constants: Star Wars and gender reveal parties. Wait, what?
Nice Guy Tarkin helps celebrate the joyful occasion. Happy early Star Wars Day everybody! Con-crit welcome as always.
(True story: someone made nearly the exact same joke in the comments for the Youtube clip I watched for reference pics.)

Re: Creativity Hour works thread
You did a really good job, Chris! The faces look very convincing, and I think you used the reference pics well. Without comparing them to the actual movie, they're quite faithful to how I remember them. I think Leia's eyes in the second panel may be a wee bit misaligned, but I think the way her face is a little tilted might be throwing me off. It might just be a wrong impression. I really like the way you've drawn the faces either way. Tarkin looks really good in the first panel.
... also, it took me way too long to get the joke, but it really works. Great execution, Chris!

That is so flattering, thank you. I'm sure you're right about Leia's eyes; I have a lot of trouble with that.
Glad you liked it!

Re: Creativity Hour works thread
So, I recently learned that a certain franchise's official Youtube channel has been uploading episodes of both of its animated series as of late, and I have been watching them and drinking in the "Yes, it really was this good" nostalgia.
Thus, a doodle was born.

The evil clown-bed is just perfect for this, and the drawing is really good. Cool and ambitious angle, and Bart has a perfect expression.

It's highly unlikely that I'll be able to make it this Sunday. I might get something done during the week instead.

Re: Creativity Hour works thread
It's a really cool pic, Chris! I think most of the concrit was made in the chat already, but for me, other than a few minute details, it looks very convincing and freaky (in the good sense). Yeah, I like it!
So, a while back, I toyed around with the idea of having the Mane Six cosplaying as characters from El Chavo, a comedy series I've adored since I was a kid. So, I figured that, before trying to do a big drawing with all of them in it, I'd try to figure out their individual designs and poses first. So, here's Fluttershy as El Chavo, which I did on Saturday, and Pinkie Pie as Kiko (I tried to make her body bigger, and also filled in her missing tail). Hopefully, in the future, I'll get the others done too.

Re: Creativity Hour works thread
My ears are burning! And I didn't even light a Q-tip this time.
Not familiar with the originals, but Flutterchavo is incredibly cute, with an on-model face and a convincing pose. The pattern on her hat is a bit too flat, but that's a minor nitpick, and really the only problem I have. Pinkiko looks legit in terms of body (bearing in mind I don't know ponies that well), with very on-model mane and tail. Her head's a bit big, but her expression is great. You're getting good at drawing in the show's style.

Attempted to do some sketchy cover art for my game The Light Prince. So of course I'm spoiling the climactic moment in the game.
Con-crit always welcome.
EDIT: Followed May's good advice and think I improved the perspective.

Re: Creativity Hour works thread
This is going to require some explaining...
There is a community garden named "Gamble Gardens" near our shop. Every year they etch donors names into the bricks inside their gazebo.
Every year since the beginning of time, I've been the poor schmoe that does the actual work. To be more correct the names aren't etched, they're bead blasted into the bricks.
It's awful work! Boring, tedious, with all of the blast media flying around my world becomes grey. I see grey, I hear grey, I smell grey. And I can't make any mistakes. It is carved into stone after all. It requires maybe 45 minutes to blast one brick. This year there were eleven donor names to blast. I did nine of them (I do have a helper). Also the temperature was over 100 degrees while we worked for two days. Miserable, I just hate it. But the only good thing is the client is super appreciative of all the hard work. She's great.
She's so good, she GAVE me a brick all my very own!
Surprised is not a strong enough word. I knew this was coming but I thought it'd be for the entire shop. Y'know, I can't do this by myself. But there it is. Carved into stone.

Sounds like a pain of a job, but that brick is exactly what you deserve! It looks so neat.

Re: Creativity Hour works thread
I'm looking at your drawing again today, Chris, I really find myself liking it quite a lot. The perspective fix really made the pic a lot clearer to parse, and the design of the character plus the flying harness is very lively and cool. A fine piece of work!

Re: Creativity Hour works thread
Some roughs. As those in chat know, I recently had it pointed out to me that older Maggie had a different upper lip in "Lisa's Wedding," as opposed to the Marge/Lisa lip later depictions (and my own art) give her. Since I really like this different look, I decided to draw over screencaps from LW to get a feel for how she's put together.
EDIT: And here's also the reference collage I made from Frinkiac screencaps.
