Happy new year all of you! Let’s make this a good one

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone’s fault. If it was Us, what did that make Me? After all, I’m one of Us. I must be. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We’re always one of Us. It’s Them that do bad things. - Jingo, Terry Pratchett

Well hope it goes well for the rest of you.

I mean, I'd probably be wasting my breath wishing one for myself, all things considered.

Happy new year!

As long as we all still exist come December, I'll consider 2020 a win.

Have a great year, guys! In the times we're living in, positivity is a true act of rebellion, so let's have a good time!

May the awfulness have gone the way of that 1.

Well I can cite 2016 being shit, 17 and 18 also being shit, 19 being the shittiest yet with plenty of promise for 2020 to be a giant dumpster fire too.
... There is literally no way this can be a good year for me. So screw it, won't even get my hopes up, all that happens is I get immediately slapped in the face for it like what happened in three big ways just in the past few months.

I've got my fair share of slaps to the face last year (and in all years prior to that), yet I'm here offering support, strength and positivity to my friends; not because I'm a superhero or a martyr, but that's what a friend does. If anything, I'm willing to show the slap marks on my face as a sign of resilience*.

Now here's a song.

* easier said than done, of course, but, well, "fake it till you make it" is my new motto.

I've spent most of the time between Christmas and now suffering the worst cold you can imagine, or I would have said something earlier, to the effect of this year can be as good as you want it to be, circumstances be damned. One of the best years of my life was spent basically homeless; it taught me that there are many things beyond my control, so why worry about them? Life will do shit every day. I can moan about it, and wallow in it, and stink up every moment of my existence with it, or I can accept that shit happens and find something positive to think about instead.

I threw out a bunch of junk today. That's positive. :)
