A work in progress, obviously, but I'd like to know what you think before I start jabbering.    :amy

Very, very impressive. I'd like to be more constructive, but I'm no sculpture critic.  :) To my layman's eye, that's a really good sculpture.

It'll be a treat to see it painted!

Thanks, that's really encouraging.

Unfortunately I can't paint this.  This is an oil based clay and never dries out.  On the plus side because it doesn't dry I have alot of working time.  On the minus side because it doesn't dry, once the thing's finished it can be damaged really easily.

Can you use it for casting? That might be a lark.

A bronze Amy?

This little piece actually stands on it's own.  The balance (so far) has been pretty good.  I'm pleased.

I did use some rods with this.  One through each leg to support the weight, and a third to keep the head from flopping.  If you look at the back view on her right leg you can see one of the rods.  I cut alittle too deep into the clay.  Oops.

The next two dilemmas are to figure out her hair, and her mouth.  Both tougher than it first looks.

I actually thought about a D'Milo treatment, but can't get that creative on this one.

But I found one where I did do the D'Milo touch.  This is from the way back file, and looks like it too.  I hadn't planned on posting it, but the set up was too good to miss.  Based on the episode where she meets a cyclops guy and does the "Bundy" look.

I always thought that was quite ironic and funny. Katey Sagal playing Leela playing Peg.

Here's the latest.

Wild Grey asked about painting this.  I was at a different art store, and they had the same clay but in a variety of colors.  Color would have definately helped.

Funny how it looks just like your art style. ;D Yeah, colour would have helped but I suppose the expense might be ruinous.

The money isn't that much for three colors.  I'm just kicking myself for walking into the wrong art store.

I didn't see purple, by the way...

I guess mixing is out of the question?

At least this one's good practice, if you manage to get hold of coloured clay later. It's looking good so far -- I like how you've managed to keep the clothes so well-defined, not to mention getting a raised arm to stick to the rest of the body. I've no idea how far you have to go, but if this is near finished, I'd suggest making that top lip stick out more.

I'd also like to put in a request for a Zoidberg. He's just the right shape to be made out of a lump of clay. :E
