Re: Gulliver's Doodles...
A couple of weeks ago I bought the Disney movie "Tarzan," as I had never seen it. After collecting some screen grabs, I started doodling the Disney-styled Leela again. The one where she squints was based entirely on a scene where Jane was first getting to know Tarzan. I also left out the cleft chin that I usually use for a very simple Disney-esque curved line for the face. Probably nothing will come of it, but it sure was fun to do.

Re: Gulliver's Doodles...
I just did this picture today. I've been writing quite a bit lately about psionic mutants, and the most feared of these is a bratty kid named Clara Blackmore. In one of my story treatments she torments the daylights out of Mom, literally using her for her own ends. In the same treatment Fry and Leela are nearly immune to her powers, Leela for her mutant brain and Fry for his lack of a delta brain wave. I did this picture for a GURPS game sheet.

More "Disney" faces. I wanted to see how many emotions I could crank out, and I doodled these at work. It's kind of interesting working with an eyebrow, which ends up doing strange things.

In light of the Caitlyn Jenner magazine cover, I posted this the other day at dA.

Re: Gulliver's Doodles...
Mike and I must have been thinking along similar paths yesterday. One of the things I drew was a sketch of a Futurama OC - she's an evil toymaker that the gang may run across in my stories at some point. She's not a new character though - I created her back in 1994 for a GURPS superheroes game. She's the owner of Tinker Toys, and has created some frightening "toy" robots.

Re: Gulliver's Doodles...
Seeing Nidotamer's Skinner reminded me a little of a development I did last summer for a long-forgotten cartoon strip. A shrunken Morgan Proctor has to fight her way out of a toy store, and finds just the toy to do it with.

This started at work today on a sticky note; just Leela dressed up for a party.

Re: Gulliver's Doodles...
Even though I've drawn this character for better than five years, it's still important to practice and learn new things. I pulled out the original show model of Leela's head this morning to address some issues concerning the thickness of her hair. I discovered that within the "bean" or the rugby ball shaped head, they included a "lateral line" that runs from the eyeball back to the scrungee. Art is a constant learning process, and the process is quite fun. Now go out there and draw.

Original show model? So it has the construction lines and everything? Can't seem to find anything like that myself.

Re: Gulliver's Doodles...
I have both the original model and a model sheet based on that model, and can mail them to you if you'd like. On top of that, I've made a bunch of my own model sheets for both Futurama and Family Guy that I'd be more than happy to share. They originally printed the model sheets in the comic book collections a few years back. Just let me know what you need.

Well I'm mostly looking for the official stuff. Especially the likes of Leela and Amy, perhaps anyone like Fry or one of the younger cast if possible!
And PM is fine.=P

Re: Gulliver's Doodles...
The official sheets are floating around out there, and, as you probably know, the DVD extras are a great resource for some of the original sketches - I even found two of the original model sheets for Morgan Proctor on the DVD's. Just let me know if you need anything.
