Re: Bring me your drabbles!
That is really well-written and sweet. Especially the bit about her being unable to believe that Bart is really dead stands out.
You know, I hated "Life's a Glitch and Then You Die", but reading your good fanfics for it, I feel it's done more good than harm.
I've been thinking of writing a scary drabble in honour of the holiday, too. We'll see if I have any ideas...

Re: Bring me your drabbles!
Aww, thank you Chris
I honestly write a lot of AU fic for that particular TOH short because I hate any episode or segment that suggests the family could easily separate from one another when we've had whole episodes built around the notion that they couldn't do so easily. It's part fix it, part because I'm fascinated by what Lisa and Marge's dynamic would be like without the guys.
I hope you'll write a short soon!!

Re: Bring me your drabbles!
A (non-Groening) fanfiction drabble, this time, for The Lego Movie. The thoughts of one character during the events of the film. NOTE: serious spoilers, so you're probably better off not reading it if you haven't seen the film yet. Go for it, it's a good film.
You Only Get One
Finn doesn't get it.
Perhaps he's right. Perhaps I've forgotten how to have fun. It's a luxury you can't always afford as an adult. I'm creating. Isn't that fun enough?
The kid just wants my City to be a perpetual playset where everything can be taken apart and put back again. Nothing wrong with that. It would be great if life were like that. No consequences, just infinite retries.
When you grow up, you realise that you only get one chance, and the things you placed are stuck.
He'll have to learn it, too.

Re: Bring me your drabbles!
Inspired by the story I'm currently writing.
so desperately hanging to this lonely fragile thread that prevents us from falling into this pool of misery that is so unbearable and yet so small that it seems petty to complain about, so frightfully clung to each other as if there wasn’t anything else to cling to (and there isn’t), afraid of growing dependent on this force that somehow pulls us together and brings us again and again back to each other’s arms and lips, as if nothing else could please us or save us, who the fuck would have the nerve to call this love but who cares

Re: Bring me your drabbles!
This one just spilled out. An inner dialogue of sorts.
“Love is energy,” she said, “and it must be exchanged constantly, like heat. If it remains contained, it’s pointless.”
“What about those who don’t want it?” he said.
“I think everybody exchanges some kind of love, somehow, for any kind of thing. I don’t think you can formalise love; for me, it’s this amorphous fluid stuff, that takes on many shapes, colours, flavours and such.”
“Then anything can be love.”
“Not quite, I guess. Love must create a positive bond.”
“Some people suffer for love,” he said.
“I’ll never understand that.”
“Must be because you never felt it.”
“… maybe.”

Re: Bring me your drabbles!
OK, this one might need some explanation. It's based on a 4chan /v/ thread where someone created a "Roller Coaster Tycoon" ride called Mr. Bones' Wild Ride, a roller coaster that allegedly lasted several years of in-game time and looped passengers back to the start when it ended. People have already written scary stories based on it, but I decided to go a slightly less horrifying and more existential route.
Original LP can be found here, but my visualisation of the experience is strongly based on this Youtube video (ca 20-30 seconds in).
The Ride Ends with Death
Like in a nightmare, I knew where I was when I stepped into the roller coaster car. I cooperated when the restraints came down. If I waited, perhaps I would wake up.
The track stretched straight up ahead. Flat green below, flat blue above. Far off, cars zipped down a country road, full of people I couldn't reach. The track turned. Fear and ennui blanked stretches of my memory.
Then my car bumped on the pitted asphalt. I grabbed the wheel. I checked the dashboard clock.
Ahead, the rush-hour traffic strung along the road like roller coaster cars.
THE END

Re: Bring me your drabbles!
A very personal perception/reflection.
---
I got there on my own. I knew nobody. Little groups of people arrived. Little groups of people remained there, perfectly still, like droplets of water suspended in oil, little islands separated by immense, dark abysses. Among all that, I just watched. Nobody came across, not to me, not to anyone else. I couldn’t jump across the abysses, couldn’t build any bridges. Someone looks at me. I look back. No contact. Little groups of people left, exactly as they came. I got there on my own, I left there on my own.
Maybe I’m not as lonely as I thought?
