I guess a radical solution would be to make it two separate stories (with a lot of editing and addition, of course): one about Lisa's decision to go to Italy on her scholarship, another about Cecil's plot. Sometimes you have to do these things...

Heh, who cares about that? You're discussing your story, after all, not the weather in Somalia. And it's not like this section gets an overwhelming amount of traffic anyway...
