Ready for the end of the world?

Post by archonix » Fri Dec 21, 2012 8:50 am

Strap in, kids, it's party time!
Our choicest plans have fallen through, our airiest castles tumbled over, because of lines we neatly drew and later neatly stumbled over.

Would it help me if I lay on the floor with a bag on my head at the pub? Just thought I'd ask.

Regarding today, there are four kinds of people:

Those who are hiding in bunkers;
Those who are making jokes;
Those who can't wait till tomorrow, to avoid all the "the world ends today" jokes;
Those who can't wait till the day after tomorrow, to avoid all the "I survived the end of the world" jokes.

I'm so good at stating the obvious! I should start the new The Oatmeal!

^best response so far.

I'm glad I don't believe in this rubbish. I'd hate for the world to end before I get some good use out of my Christmas-appropriate avatar.

Here's my little donation to dA...the world has got to go through so much red tape that it may never end.

BTW, it sure sounds like the apocalypse outside - 35 mph winds are roaring as a snowstorm is coming through (only a few inches, though).

The apocalypse will never happen. If I'm wrong, then may we all be horribly destroyed somehow.

I was pleased to hear at least one radio station play It's the End of the World As We Know It by REM. That was too good an opportunity to pass up...
There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning....
And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting - on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave....
So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark - that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.

Darn it, I should have remembered to do that. But it was a good end of the world for me, anyways, very relaxing.

*bows* I was considering going with Maya Rudolph (apocalyptic *and* festive name!) but Evangelion fits the whole "ancient preordained apocalypse scenario" better, says I.

Now that the apocalypse has past, it's time to focus on the post-apocalyptic humor. Here we see in Earth's dark future that those creepy, crawly creatures are still working their way into everyone's business...oh yeah, and the cockroaches have also survived.
