Haven't seen the episode, but I agree 100% that Laura Powers should be a regular character.

EDIT: Actually, therein lies my annoyance with celebrity guest stars in a nutshell. The writers come up with a cool character who would add an interesting dynamic to the show (a friend or love interest to a main character, for example), then they have to write him/her out at the end of the episode because they got some big-name celebrity to do the voice acting, instead of just giving it to Tress McNeille. It's dumb.

They actually did avoid that recently by having Comic Book Guy marry a non-guest-star-voiced woman.

And on the opposite end of the scale, there was Maya. THEY COULD'VE KEPT MAYA, BLAST IT.

I agree RE Maya too!

To be fair, we've had a couple of celeb-voiced characters show up more frequently. (Mary Spuckler has a famous VA and she's shown up at least once a season since her introduction - I think Kristen Wiig voices her? - and Amy Poehler's done the same for Genda). But they're both playing Bart's girlfriends and I'd like some variety - why not give Marge a friend, or Lisa a recurring Milhouse-level friend?

Re Tress - heck - give us a Janey plot already! We've had a ton of plots centered around Milhouse, why not flesh out Sherri and Terri?

ETA: Chris, what you said reminded me of what they did with Jessica Lovejoy by having Meryl Streep voice her. Fun, pot-stirring character...who's nearly impossible to bring back because she has an in-demand, award-winning va.

If we're talking recurring guest-star characters, I'd like to see them bring back Julia from The Homer of Seville. I like the idea of Marge having a nemesis.

Oooh, that might work well.

They could also feature Helen more, but I like her position as General Irritant.
