So little Jamshed is now a college graduate. ...I'm just going to avoid trying to wrap my head around that.

Temporal migraines aside, I liked this. We got a good generation gap between stereotypes and Bart enjoying being good. Character-wise it was very solid all around. I would've liked to have seen more of Bart and Lisa bonding as fellow goody-two-shoeses.

And hey, something positive came from Big Bang Theory's existence. Who knew?

Awaddafuq, seriously? And it wasn't a parody of continuity errors like that in long-running soap operas?

You know, the phrase "jump the shark" gets tossed about lightly these days...

EDIT: Maybe they're just fucking with us now. "You want to see Maggie grow up and have dialogue and an actual personality? TOO BAD. Jamshed time!"

EDIT EDIT: OK, I'm stupid, I thought Jamshed was one of the octuplets rather than Sanjay's kid. Still dumb.

It certainly IS a very strange choice. Kinda ironic really, I usually thought/insisted they could just use existing characters rather than throwaway guests but... well. Maybe if Jamshed instead seriously upped the security at the mart and/or inspired others to do the same... then again there's already a comic story like that. It's just rather strange.

Still, quite a few small funny bits to be found. Particularly Milhouse's ascension to Springfield's bad boy (goes about as well as you'd expect from Milhouse), callback to "dickety", higher class robbers, "downward spiral headquarters" and of course, Bart finding another loophole in Lisa's words. Also in the Kwik-E-Mart, noticed Grand Theft Walrus in the background! So yeah, pretty good as long as you ignore that one big distracting factor.

It's been a long time since we've had an actually good episode focused on Apu, so this was refreshing and actually fun. Jamshed's total willingness to just use Apu's weakness to his advantage was slimy in a great way, and his comeuppance was totally desserved (And now I want to know what his sister Pahusacheta is up to).

"Do you know how much imagination it costs to appear in a thought bubble!?"

The Bart and Homer plot was very old-fashioned in an excellent way. And ultimately he realizes everyone will love him anyway, so who cares if he pranks?

The weirdness of them aging Jamshed at least worked, and it definitely added to the inter-family cultural clash they were trying to portray. But this brings me back to the "i wish they'd just naturally aged the kids" lament.
