OPINIONS: Love Among the Bruins (Futurama)

Post by c_nordlander » Sat Dec 10, 2016 9:20 pm

After Leela gets burned on a horrible part-time job, she decides to break into the Romanticorp factory to save the exploited Lovey Bears from being turned into stuffed toys.

I'm not quite happy with the plot towards the end,
Spoiler
Still, might be worth a read. Not the final draft, so tell me if anything can be improved!

Note: the musical at the start is obviously a Warhammer 40,000 reference, but the Roman guy referring to Earth as "fabled Terra" really was just a coincidence.

Script format; comedy (though it ended up a little more dramatic than I first intended).

EDIT: Also, I should credit Graham for coming up with a few plot ideas.

Very enjoyable! Leela was cool, and the Fry and Bender stuff was funny as well. Great villain.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone’s fault. If it was Us, what did that make Me? After all, I’m one of Us. I must be. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We’re always one of Us. It’s Them that do bad things. - Jingo, Terry Pratchett

You pretty much voiced all the problems I had with the fic (disconnected first act, the bears not being very interesting, the

so no disagreement there. We'll see if I come up with some way to fix them. Also, glad you liked it otherwise!

Thank you for reading.

I actually don't mind the lack of development on Leela

I completely forgot to comment on this. In fact, I wrote a reply, and forgot to submit it. Days ago.

Either way, I can't add any more criticism other than what Steve said, but I really enjoyed this story nonetheless, and I think it's worth it to iron out those little kinks. This is really good stuff.
