OK, my episode 1 first impressions!

Intro

Nice and pretty enough, but I have a feeling it's not going to become as iconic as Simpsons or Futurama's ones. I suspect it's because the music didn't wow me

Bean

The lead is pretty great. Remind me of Beb's Maggie. Not at all dumb like Homer and Fry have been before her. Cunning and a good fighter. A bit too teenage angsty "no YOU Dad!" but that's understandable.

Elfo

A charming innocent who just wants to feel emotions other than happy. I like him. Probably the one who had the biggest adventure this episode, surviving a battlefield and horribly offending a couple of humble peasants with his positivity. I hope his apparant crush on Bean doesn't get played too hard, I can see it getting old.

Luci

Liked him a lot more than I thought I would. He's kinda there to be edgy and a bad influence, but interesting enough while doing so. Will be interested to see if he becomes something other than "generically evil all the time." One small moment I particularly liked was him flopping down the wall in his fight with Bean.

Other People

Nobody else particularly stood out except for Bean's father and stepmother. Of the two the stepmother was more fun, a fun twist on the evil stepmother trope.
I'm guessing the two named incompetent guards will be hanging around. Same with Maurice Lamarche's... advisor? And Bean's maid.
Neither of the princes stood out to me.
Was Kissy the Smurfette? I don't recall seeing other female elfs, but I wasn't really looking.

Overall, I liked it! The story wasn't anything particularly special, but I think they were getting set up for better stuff. Raunchier than I expected, significantly so in the case of Kissy. Some nice animation and particularly backgrounds. Nothing totally blew me away though.

I had a good time with this. The parts involving Bean felt maybe a wee bit dry in the first half, but I liked pretty much everything involving elfo. It really picked up steam during the wedding, the characters grew in me, and the jokes started to flow better. I do look forward to the rest of the season.
