Going to put my thoughts on the whole series in here, as am too lazy to do separate ones.

This is a really uneven series. The first 6 episodes are a study in consistent inconsistency, in timing, mood, and humor (and occasionally plot - witch's cackling curse, I'm looking at you). Honestly, the strongest recommendation I could make to someone based on them were 'There were a few good bits - I think it may pick up in the second season'.

Then along came episode 7, and it proved me wrong by picking up early. Everything clicked, and they went and produced something which was easily as funny as Futurama at its peak. Excellent stuff.

The following three eps were then a bit of an unusual thing. Better than episodes 1-6, not quite as good as 7, but suddenly pulling together a bunch of the long term plot points that the rest of the series has been hinting at into a longer form story before cutting it short. The ending doesn't feel like a cliffhanger in the traditional sense. More like they just ran out of time and had to stop. It's kind of weird.

Overall, I wish they'd committed to the continuous story aspect of it right the way through, rather than the episodic-but-not-quite we got for the middle of the series before switching around. I do wish it had been longer. Ten episodes isn't very much space to play about in, really, for what it feels like they're trying to do. I love the painting style backgrounds, the whole thing does just look utterly fantastic. Bean is pretty close to fanfic!Maggie (I mean, just look at that smile), which is very entertaining. Also we need more of the talking pig.

Netflix have apparently ordered 10 more episodes already, so hopefully we'll get some sort of conclusion. I really hope they don't try and wrap up all the events of the end of season 1 in the premier of season 2, then revert to being episodic but with a new status quo. We shall see...

I've not seen as far as you have yet, but the remaining ten eps are actually the remainder of Season 1. So I guess you can expect whatever story it is to continue.

I'll get caught up eventually and have an opinion on the rest of the episodes soon...

Belated response, and I haven't watched this show at all, but we mustn't forget that for all the awesome episodes that both The Simpsons and Futurama have given us, they both took at least one season to hit their stride. (Don't get me wrong, I think Season 1 of Futurama was funny, but it does have some oddities compared to later ones, such as a reliance on directly parodying the plots of other works of fiction.)

Well then...
Spoiler
Rating: A

Overall thoughts: similar to Pat. Kind of an uneven season, plenty of great bits but a lot of it feels like white noise that just washed past me. I imagine it says something that there are still major characters whose names I'm not sure of. A good ten episodes, but not a complete arc yet, and the following ten are badly needed and will hopefully be a lot more consistent.

Binge-watched the series today. I'm definitely enjoying it. Bean is a fun protagonist; not entirely an original spin on the princess character, but one that's very enjoyable to watch. Elfo grew on me more as the series went on, and I love Luci's casually unapologetic corrupter angle. The side characters, while a number still need some proper fleshing-out, are a hoot. Zog in particular is a fountain of laughs, and I love the villains' relentless spoofing of the "villains who watch everything from the shadows" archetype. They'd do Mr. Selatcia proud.
