2009 Art Competition rules
2009 Art Competition rules
Welcome to the TSFFC 2009 Art Competition, aka The First Thing They Saw. The theme is simple: you will draw the first thing the crew of Planet Express sees when the step out of one of the Professor's "paraboxes", the mysterious and dangerous boxes he created containing a myriad of alternate universes, that should rightly have been thrown into the sun years ago. Of coure you don't hafe to take the "first thing" bit absolutely literally but the idea is that you come up with crazy, whacky new universes.
The entry rules for this competition are simple. You must be:
[*] Alive
[*] Capable of moving a pencil
[*] Human
More seriously there are certain standards and conventions that are applied to this art competition.
[#] no series crossovers, apart from The Simpsons. Whilst it might be fun to draw your favourite people from another series, this is a Futurama and Simpsons fan site and that's what we have.
[#] This doesn't rule out homages. Futurama characters dressed up as, say, the characters from Babylon 5 could work but just having Babylon 5 characters there would be lazy.
[#] Images must comply with our PG-13 policy. I am as much a fan of the fun stuff as the next guy but the rules here are set in stone for good reasons. These reasons can be explained in a dark alley with a bat.
[#] There are no restrictions on the art style you wish to use.
Your entries will be posted in [iurl=http://simpworks.com/forums/2009-art-co ... -thread/0/]this thread[/iurl]. The competition begins today and will end on 5th 12th* of September. The date of the finale judgement will be announced at the end of the competition but will probably take place one or two weeks after the competition ends.
Please post questions about the rules in this thread only. Any other questions must be directed to the [iurl=http://simpworks.com/forums/2009-art-co ... -thread/0/]discussion thread[/iurl].

Our choicest plans have fallen through, our airiest castles tumbled over, because of lines we neatly drew and later neatly stumbled over.

Yes, the competition has been extended a week. I didn't want people rushing to finish.
